Our Commitment
HOPE Health Inc. is committed to ensuring that our telehealth platform is accessible to all Canadians, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare services, and we strive to design and maintain a platform that is inclusive and usable for the widest possible audience.
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, as recommended by the Accessible Canada Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
Accessibility Features
Our platform includes the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and semantic elements to support screen readers and assistive technologies.
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard, including forms, buttons, menus, and modal dialogs.
- Colour Contrast: We maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text, meeting WCAG AA requirements.
- Responsive Design: Our platform is fully functional across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices, supporting zoom up to 200% without loss of functionality.
- Form Labels: All form fields include associated labels or accessible names for screen reader compatibility.
- Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to aid keyboard navigation.
- Text Resizing: Content remains readable and functional when text size is increased to 200%.
- Alt Text: Meaningful alternative text is provided for informative images.
Accommodations
We offer the following accommodations to support your healthcare experience:
- Text-Based Communication: Our messaging system allows you to communicate with your physician in writing, which can be helpful for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Flexible Assessment: Our intake questionnaires are designed to be completed at your own pace, with no time limits on form submissions.
- Alternative Formats: Upon request, we can provide health-related documents in alternative formats, including large print and plain language summaries.
- Assisted Access: If you need help navigating the platform or completing forms, our support team can guide you through the process.
Known Limitations
We are actively working to improve accessibility across our platform. Current known limitations include:
- Some charts and data visualizations in the patient dashboard may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working on providing text-based alternatives.
- Certain third-party components may have accessibility gaps that are outside our direct control. We are working with vendors to address these issues.
We are committed to resolving these limitations and continuously improving our platform's accessibility.
Conformance Status
We are currently targeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Our accessibility efforts are ongoing, and we conduct regular audits to identify and remediate issues. We recognize that accessibility is a continuing effort and are committed to maintaining and improving our conformance over time.
